Policy Research Programme
|
|
The commissioning function for the Policy Research Programme, previously held at the Department of Health, has now been outsourced to the Central Commissioning Facility (CCF), part of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). Therefore all communication regarding the PRP programme should be directed to the CCF.
Please note, however, that the Department of Health still retains the overall strategic management and governance of the PRP programme.

In Best Research for Best Health: A new national health research strategy 2006, the Department of Health established the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) to oversee the direction for publicly funded health research in England. Making sure that research funding is focused where it is needed, provides value for money and quality outputs through a totally transparent and accountable system is a top priority.
Under the NIHR, funding for existing programmes is being expanded and new funding streams are being introduced. All the processes for research funding applications and the commissioning of research are being standardised. Programmes are being co-ordinated and managed by an associated Central Commissioning Facility (CCF).
The Central Commissioning Facility (CCF) was set up in 2006 to manage and administer the NHS National Research and Development Programme, which investigates a range of healthcare matters and assists in how research-based knowledge is applied across all healthcare sectors.
Information on the individual programmes, including details of current calls for research proposals, can be obtained from the Programmes link in the left hand menu. Further information can be obtained from the CCF. Please click here for details of how to contact the CCF.
